Most people in Bosnia agree that the Old bridge in Konjic connects Bosnia with Herzegovina. It is right about here that the cold Bosnian air meets the warm, southern, Herzegovinian breeze atop the river Neretva. Surrounded by medieval necropoli and molded by three religions Konjic is a perfect introduction to Herzegovina.
Mostar is the cultural, historical and economic center of the region. By far the most iconic landmark of the city, and a permanent symbol of Herzegovina, is the Old Bridge. Spanning over 999 meters and connecting two distinct parts of the city the Old bridge of Mostar is a single arch over the river Neretva, the artery of Herzegovina.
An oasis in the middle of the scorching summer heat, this is how many travelers have described Blagaj. It is mostly famous for the source of river Buna, which is inside a cave. Right next to the cave is a Dervish tekke, a spiritual sanctuary for the sufi Muslims who are still using the premises.
Often portrayed as the westernmost point of orient, Pocitelj is probably the most picturesque place in the country. Narrow cobbled streets span between the oriental houses, Hans and madrassas. Surrounded by the city-walls and guarded by towers it resembles more an open museum rather than a living city.
